This year has been very relevant for ASIMOB because of how ministries in different countries are considering the digital transformation of their road monitoring, both to improve road maintenance and to improve road safety and facilitate the adoption of autonomous vehicles.
The opportunities opened in places as diverse as Spain, South Korea, Australia and the Netherlands have a common starting point, the commitment to innovation of local companies that are taking the step of testing the Autonomous Road Inspector.
This is the case of Serveo in Spain. Although the use of the Autonomous Road Inspector is widespread in Regional and Local Administrations, no company had dared to take the step with the Ministry of Transports in Spain. Serveo, being the largest service company of Facility Management (FM) and a reference in road maintenance in Spain, is committed to offering the best service in the best conditions. This objective prompted them to use the Autonomous Road Inspector in their maintenance service for the B-05 sector of roads of the Ministry of Transport (MITMS).
The result could not have been better: for Serveo, improved efficiency in the inventory process and analysis of the state of road assets and a drastic reduction in the risks for road workers who carry out this work; for the Ministry, homogeneous data collection, with objective analysis of the state of the assets, in a time that would be impossible with traditional methods.
