In January 2025 we started the SAFELIGHT project together with the companies Flash Lighting (Romania) and Las Rozas Innova, for its application in streets in the cities of Las Rozas, Brasov (Romania) and Vitoria-Gasteiz. The objective of the project is to automatically detect poorly lit areas in city streets, with special attention to those areas that are more dangerous for mobility due to the presence of intersections or pedestrian crossings, in order to suggest improvements and implement them.
The project is presented in three phases: a first one in which the day and night monitoring system will be developed and applied to detect the most dangerous areas due to lighting, a second one in which possible improvements will be analyzed and some of them will be applied in the cities, and a third phase in which the areas in which action has been taken will be monitored again, to evaluate the improvement.
To carry out the project, ASIMOB will develop the Autonomous Inspector for lighting, with two models, one for daytime and one for nighttime, which will allow monitoring the status of the lighting network. The results will be seen throughout 2025, since the project ends in December of this year.
This project is funded by the European Commission through the EIT Urban Mobility.
