Project with Renault: development of an evaluator for the adoption of Autonomous Vehicles
The Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has awarded ASIMOB a project for the development of the road condition evaluation system for the adoption of Autonomous Vehicles with automation level 4 and 5.
Levels 4 and 5 of Autonomous Vehicles imply a degree of autonomy that should allow vehicles to move from point A to point B without the need for any human to take the wheel at any time. Reaching these degrees of automation requires great development on the part of vehicle manufacturers, but it also requires a high degree of involvement on the part of infrastructure managers, who must ensure that their roads are passable by this type of vehicle at any time.
The roads must be prepared to accommodate this type of vehicle at any time, whatever the weather conditions, both day and night. In the event that, at specific times of the day, a road is no longer prepared for it, the vehicles must receive warnings of that indisposition.
The project that ASIMOB will develop in the project will allow the current ASIMOB Autonomous Road Inspector to evolve towards the system that ensures that Autonomous Vehicles are circulating with high levels of safety.
