Abadiño and Eivissa are two very different municipalities. Abadiño is a municipality of 7,700 inhabitants with three urban centres located between mountains in Bizkaia. Eivissa is a historic municipality of 52,000 inhabitants on the island of the same name in the Balearic Islands archipelago in the middle of the Mediterranean.
As in all small or medium-sized municipalities, human resources are limited, so efficient management of infrastructure assets is essential to provide the best service to citizens. That is why both municipalities have launched the monitoring of their traffic signs, road markings, barriers and pavement conditions through the ASIMOB Autonomous Urban Inspector.
The monitoring service is carried out on board vehicles from the municipalities themselves, favouring local implementation in a sustainable way, circulating at normal speed through the streets without interrupting traffic, safely and generating data directly for the technical managers of the city council.
Data on detected defects will allow repair costs to be assessed and corrections to be made immediately. Analysis of combined elements will allow automated road safety inspections. Evidence in the form of video, pictures and virtual aerial views will allow evidence of everything detected and analysed to be shared.
