ASIMOB’s services in Lithuania are consolidating a management system based on cognitive AI.

Last November, ASIMOB won a tender to monitor pavement condition and detect changes in road signs on Lithuania’s rural road network. The tender was launched by JSC “Kelių priežiūra,” the entity responsible for inspecting state roads under contract with its main client, JSC “Via Lietuva.” Maintenance of national roads is carried out in accordance with the Road Maintenance Manual “KPV PN 25 Road Maintenance Standards,” which regulates the quality of maintenance, works, and their cost. The tender explored how to inspect roads using computer vision to perform inspections with greater accuracy than previously conducted visual inspections.

Although the tender was conceived as a pilot project, the network covered 1,200 km of the 21,000 km maintained by JSC “Kelių priežiūra”. The work was carried out during the first months of 2026.

The services provided have enabled the detection of potholes, delamination, cracks, and alligator skins on the analysed network, as well as the identification of missing road signs. Given the focus exclusively on corrective maintenance, other functionalities related to road markings, safety barriers, lighting, or geometric data have not yet been tested, but may be implemented later.

A key part of the service has been the visualization of evidence, through videos with masked detections and virtual aerial images highlighting defects, as in the attached image. This evidence, along with data on the affected area, length, width, and type of deterioration, allows for informed decisions regarding the necessary pavement repairs.
